Medical Silicone Scar Sheets & Topical Gels

Medical silicone is the most widely recommended first-line option for managing raised (hypertrophic) and keloid-prone scars. Worn on a closed, healed wound, it hydrates the scar and regulates moisture, which calms excess collagen production — over the following weeks the scar typically becomes flatter, softer and less red.

Gel or sheets? Silicone sheets suit larger, flat areas that sit under clothing — tummy, chest, shoulder — while the clear gel suits the face, joints and visible skin, drying quickly under sunscreen or make-up. Either form is used consistently for 8–12 weeks or longer; newer scars respond fastest, though older scars can still improve.
